Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

All scholarship applicants must be a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association at the time of application.

Undergraduate Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

1. Be enrolled in a CAATE accredited undergraduate program that concludes with a baccalaureate degree;
2. Have complete at least 60 credits of college coursework;
3. Have a cumulative overall GPA of at least 3.2 (based on a 4.0 maximum) for ALL undergraduate courses or the last 60 credits including the Fall of 2019 (NOTE: transfer transcripts may have to be used in GPA calculation);
4. Have at minimum one academic year in undergraduate program remaining

Graduating Undergraduate Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

1. Be enrolled in a CAATE accredited undergraduate program that concludes with a baccalaureate degree;
2. Be a graduating senior in Fall 2019/Spring 2020 – planning on attending graduate school beginning in Summer or Fall 2020;
3. Have a cumulative overall GPA of at least 3.2 (based on a 4.0 maximum) for ALL undergraduate courses or the last 60 credits including the Fall of 2019 (NOTE: transfer transcripts may have to be used in GPA calculation);

Professional Master’s (Entry Level Master’s) Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

1. Be enrolled in a CAATE accredited entry-level master’s program that concludes with a master’s degree;
2. Have a cumulative overall GPA of at least 3.2 (based on a 4.0 maximum) for the last 40 credits of his/her undergraduate courses and ALL of his/her entry level master’s courses including the Fall of 2019;

Post-Professional Master’s Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

1. Be BOC certified and enrolled in a master’s program that concludes with a master’s degree;
2. An applicant may apply any time prior to his/her final academic year of master’s work;
3. Have a cumulative overall GPA of at least 3.2 (based on a 4.0 maximum) for the last 40 credits of his/her undergraduate courses and ALL of his/her master’s courses including the Fall of 2019;

Doctoral Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

1. Be BOC certified and be enrolled in a doctoral degree program. An applicant may apply during his/her final academic year of master’s work OR any time prior to his/her final academic year/dissertation year of doctoral work;
2. Have a cumulative overall GPA of at least 3.2 (based on a 4.0 maximum) for all graduate courses including master’s and doctoral degree and any courses from Fall of 2019;

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Professional Degree Change
The NATA Board of Directors and the Commissioners of the CAATE, with the full support of the Board of Certification and the NATA Research & Education Foundation, have agreed to establish the professional degree in athletic training at the master’s level.

In order to ensure that the scholarship designations match the transition timeline the following changes will be implemented:

  • The 2024-2025 school year will be the last year the NATA Foundation will award Undergraduate Scholarships
  • The 2024-2025 school year will be the last year the NATA Foundation will award Graduating Senior Scholarships
